NSW:Brother of gang rapist tells court of race threats

The brother of a gang rapist has told a court his family has received threats sincehis younger brother was charged over attacks on teenage girls.

The brother, who can't be named, has told the New South Wales District court he'd beenreluctant to give evidence in his brother's sentencing proceedings because he'd receivedthreats as recently as last night.

He says he and his family have been the subjects of racial hatred from people in thestreet, death threats and hate mail.

Despite orders preventing the publication of his brother's name, the older brothersays some people still know they are related.

The younger brother, aged 19, has pleaded guilty to attacks against four teenage girlsin Sydney's west in August 2000.

He has admitted to being involved in the gang rape of two teenage girls and an attackon an 18-year-old girl who was lured from a train and sexually assaulted by 14 men.

He's also pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting a 14-year-old girl on a train witha group of men.

The sentencing proceedings are continuing.
