Fed: Going solo no fun for ex-cop Ben

GOLD COAST, April 29 AAP - Big Brother 3's first controversial star - former policemanBenjamin Archbold - was less than impressed by his opening 24 hours on patrol alone inthe reality TV series.
While revelations about the former detective's minor run-in with the law were makingnews outside the TV compound, Mr Archbold was becoming the solo star of the "round" house.
"Not one minute has been enjoyable," he wrote in a diary entry before being joinedon Monday night by blonde part-time model and lawyer Joanne.
"Please, give me some company," he pleaded.
Mr Archbold's brush with controversy followed revelations he had once received threatsfrom a now dead mobster and had also been charged with offensive behavior and disorderlybehaviour while drunk.
The charges stemmed from a November 2001 drinking session at a Melbourne hotel.
A Melbourne court was told Mr Archbold, who was off-duty at the time, was asked toleave the hotel after he became affected by alcohol and aggressive when he was refusedmore drinks.
He later bailed up two female motorists in nearby streets, flashed his police badge,and demanded they drive him to a police station.
Mr Archbold, who pleaded guilty, was put on a 12-month good behaviour bond and orderedto pay $500 into the court fund, but no conviction was recorded.
Warrnambool-raised Mr Archbold later quit the police force after nine years to studylaw and is now in his second brush with Big Brother.
"He was accepted (onto the program) last year but the police wouldn't allow him," hisfather Peter Archbold said today.
Benjamin Archbold also reportedly had been threatened by Nikolai Radev, a known criminalwho was shot dead earlier this month.
The threats to Mr Archbold, who moved to the Gold Coast from Victoria, were apparentlymade by Radev during a court hearing well before his shooting.
Meanwhile, Mr Archbold also suffered the first injury of the new Big Brother seasontoday - a splinter in his foot.
New room mate Joanne came to the rescue with tweezers and removed the sliver of woodwhich Ben plans to keep as a souvenir.
